    Dear Parents,Carers,

Welcome back from what I hope was a lovely half term.  During the week Mr O'Reilly led the NSsport holiday activity days which was a great success and it sounds like the children really enjoyed their time.  Please spread the word as the club is open to children from any school and will run during the Easter holiday.

It has been wonderful to see so many of you at the Learning Reviews.  It is always a pleasure to read the Intrim reports and I thank the teachers for working so hard on them.

We began the week with an Inset day led by Mrs Wirth  centred around developing our Curriculum.  Our focus is on mapping the learning journey our children take in each subject and it is an exciting process to go through.  We had an amazing 23 children at the Inset activity day, again a great success and we are pleased to offer the service.

On Wednesday Reverend Julie led our Ash Wednesday service which, due to the weather, is one we rarely hold in church.  The children behaved beautifully and the children who read did so clearly and confidently.

It is wonderful to celebrate the fundraising that we have been doing.  I would like to thank Mrs Dodds and School Council for their hard work raising money for the Austrailian RSPCA and salvation army wildlife appeals.  A wonderful £208.50 was raised, once the £99.50 for the frames was deducted, we raised £109.  Thank you for your support.

I have also had an update on the money raised through Easy fundraising and we have raised £54.41 in the last quater.  Please have a look if you haven't already registered.

I attended a FOFSA meeting on Thursday evening and the plans in place are very exciting for the school.  Looking ahead we will be asking for your support regarding the Summer fair in June and some redecoration in the coming weeks.

It has been a busy start to the half term but full of celebrations for learning and developing our school.  I wish you a lovely weekend and hope for a drier, sunnier week next week.

    With kind regards

    Dear Parents, Carers

I am writing in regards to the Coronavirus which I understand is a concern to us all.  As an education establishment we are receiving regular guidance and information.  We are working hard, encouraging the children to wash their hands well and to follow good hygiene routines.

It is vital that parents communicate effectively with school if you have any concerns.  There is different guidance to follow if you are in contact with someone who has travelled from abroad depending on the location.  If you have travel arrangements in any of the categorised areas, please contact school.

I will of course update you as I see necessary and I thank you for your support.  I have displayed an advice poster in the lobby which you may find helpful.  We do have a vulnerable pupil within our school community so please communicate with school if there is any information you feel we need to be aware of to keep our children safe and well.

    Kind regards

    Dear Parents,

What a busy and exciting half term it has been!  There has been much focus around our vision and values and using them to accelerate pupil progress.  The children and staff are working hard to make the most of every moment and we can really see the impact of the daily repetition with key skills in English and Maths.  Children and staff are certainly ready for a holiday but I do hope that you will encourage your children to continue to carry out daily timestables and reading; it can make such a difference.

It has been a pleasure to welcome two new members of Staff since January; Charlotte Paterson is supporting Chaffinch and Goldfinch each morning and Louise Pullen is also working in Goldfinch on a Monday and Tuesday.  Sadly, Jill Anders will no longer be working on a Monday and Tuesday but we are looking forward to her continued involvement in the school in a different capacity.

We have been incredibly fortunate this half term to have the involvement of many parents and their support has been invaluable.  I would like to express my thanks especially to Jo Dickson.  Jo has been attending Warren Lodge each week with Chaffinch, has been reading with Rosefinch, has supported the lunch team on a Monday, has taken responsibility for uniform and has been on the FOFSA committee.  Jo will be stopping these roles to have more time for herself in preparation for her fourth baby.  Her dedication and commitment has been wonderful and she has made such a difference to our school in so many ways.  Thank you Jo from us all.

Next half term will begin with our Learning Reviews; I look forward to seeing you and I am happy to meet with any parents during either evening if you wish to meet with me.  There will also be SATs meetings and a Phonics meeting next half term so please keep an eye on the calendar for these dates.

We have had some children absent in the past fortnight with colds, coughs and some high temperatures. We are reminding the children a lot about hand washing and the importance of personal hygiene.  We are sending some boys back to wash their hands many times before lunch following football in the ball court!  We will of course use the half term break to carry out a deeper clean in school and are having the Chaffinch carpet professionally cleaned as part of our ongoing cleaning plan and maintenance.

I wish you all a wonderful half term.  NSSport will be in school each weekday for the holiday club; all children are welcome and you can book online throughout the week.  We have an Inset day on Monday 24th February; Nssport will be here and the staff will spend the day developing our curriculum plans and provision.

    With Kind regards

    Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to begin Monday morning seeing the children so smart in their correct uniforms; thank you for your support.  On Monday in our assembly we discussed 'It's okay, not to be okay'.  This has been reflected upon throughout the week and it was great to see a lot of children wearing something inside out on Wednesday to celebrate Mental Health Awareness week and the message that it is good to share the feelings we have hidden on the inside.

Goldfinch and Chaffinch have been introduced to a new Music initative which they were very excited about on Thursday.  The juniors will begin learning an instrument with Mrs Gan; Goldfinch will learn the Ukulele and Chaffinch the Recorder.  A letter has gone out with the children today about taking the instruments home.  This development in our music provision has been led by Mrs Gan and I thank her for leading music with such passion.

School Council were very excited today to see the foodbank bags collected; the men who came were blown away by the amount of food donated and our children were certainly very proud.  It has been lovely to have more space in school this afternoon but on Monday we are hoping to have lots of Bags2School bags. You can bring things in any bag; it is a great opportunity to have a clear out and raise money for school at the same time.

I would like to finish my newsletter by directing you to a letter that was sent out today from Mrs Dodds regarding her new role in school.  I am sure you will see the extensive benefits the role will bring to the school.  Having spent a week reflecting on the importance of caring for our mental health; I am excited to see the ongoing impact the new role will have on wellbeing, provision and learning.

    Wishing you a lovely weekend
