Our School Vision
"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118
Our Curriculum Vision - Our Intent
At Finchampstead we are passionate about enjoyment and participation in sport and believe it should be an integral part of school life. We work hard to develop the depth and breadth of opportunities within the curriculum and beyond. We believe this engages and motivates our children and develops their knowledge an awareness of the sport around the world. We want to create pathways for them to continue to be active beyond school.
Throughout the school children are taught the fundamental movement skills of agility, balance and coordination. Children work hard to improve on their personal best and we provide a broad range of competitive opportunities throughout the year, both inter-school and intra-school. We are proud to provide 3 hours of positive, inclusive PE each week for our Reception children; developing their core skills and instilling a love for sport on entering school. Children in Year 1 to Year 6 receive a minimum of 2 hours PE per week covering skills in Gymnastics, Dance, Games, Athletics, Outdoor Adventurous and Swimming. This is enhanced by extra-curricular clubs and leadership opportunities for all.
The physical health of our children has an impact on their mental health as well as their attainment and achievement across the curriculum. We encourage respect, commitment, determination and pride and we celebrate sporting achievements of the children, the staff, families and our role models.
