    Dear Parents,

I cannot believe we are at the end of September already!  This week started with Mr Lambden and I taking nine Year Five and Six children to the Madejski 4G pitch for a football tournament.  We had a great day; the children played with great spirit and determination and we won one of our matches! Unfortunately Mr O'Reilly is currently unable to work due to an injury; I am sure you will join us in wishing him a speedy recovery and we look forward to his return.

Staff and children alike enjoyed wearing PE kits all day and getting into the spirit of National Fitness day.  The Pulse 8 Gym Instructors were brilliant with the children and the exercises had us all worn out!  They were impressed with the fitness of our children which is something we are incrediblly proud of.  The photographs this week are all sporty ones.

The School Council have had their first meeting and are launching into a STOPTOBER campaign!  Please join us raising money for Cancer Research whilst helping yourself by stopping something for the month. If you would like more forms, spares are available from the lobby.  Please encourage family and friends to join us in supporting this very worthwhile charity.

It has been such a pleasure seeing the children working so hard and making progress in their learning.  We are looking forward to sharing with you how well your child has settled in during the Learning Reviews next week.  The October Learning Review is an opportunity for you to learn about your child as a learner, books will not be available.

Next week is a busy week with Learning Reviews, Harvest Church Service and a Year Three/Four Football Tournament at Reddam House. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

    Kind regards

    Jacquie Vanstone

    Dear Parents,

It has been a wonderfully busy week with lots of new roles being put into action. The Librarians are already doing a great job organising the books and the Sports Leaders are using their whistles enthusiastically!!  Each class has elected their School Council Representives; well done to everyone who put themselves forward for the role.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Information Evening on Wednesday.  It was lovely to have the opportunity to talk with parents, staff and Governors.  Thank you to the staff for providing such valuable information; we hope you all found it useful.  I am pleased to inform you that we have a new Behaviour Policy which is available for you to see on the website and there are copies in the lobby if you would like a paper version.

We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor; if you are interested in taking on the role please come and see me.

Wednesday 27th is National Fitness Day.  We are asking the children to come to school in their PE kits.  If your child wishes to wear tracksuit bottoms or leggings instead of shorts they must be navy or black.  We will send all PE kits home on Tuesday. We are planning a great day for the children and are delighted that two members of the Pulse 8 Gym team will be coming into school to spend time with each class during the morning.

Please join me in wishing the Football team luck on Monday as we take them to the Madejski 4G pitch for a tournament.

    Have a lovely weekend

    Dear Parents,

We are very pleased with how well the children have settled in this term.  We hope that the parent meetings have been useful.  We have enjoyed an Achievement assembly this week with children throughout the school being recognised for their efforts and achievements.  We were also pleased to give out thirteen Librarian badges; the children are very proud to be taking on this role.  Today we have given the Sports Leaders their hats and whistles which I am sure they will enjoy using!! They will begin their role next week.  This year we have decided to also have two Sports Captains for each colour team and they will receive a different hat once they arrive.

Next week we will be having our normal Tuesday Church assembly in school however for the 19th September we would like to welcome Reception parents to join us.  Each July our Governors kindly give our Year 6 children a Bible as they leave us.  This year we would like to add to the tradition and FOSFA will be giving the Reception children a suitable Bible  to use during their time at our school. Thank you FOSFA.

Many of you had the opportunity to meet Mrs Runciman this week on the playground.  We are very pleased to have her working with us and the children are enjoying getting to know her.

We are pleased to have received our SIAMS report; this is the findings of the Church School Inspection which took place in July 2017.  I have included a summary of the report in Office Updates.  We are proud of our achievements and we are already working hard on the recommended areas to develop

We very much hope that you will be able to join Staff and Govenors next Wednesday evening for our Information evening; it will also be a lovely opportunity for new parents to get to know more families.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend

    Jacquie Vanstone
