    Dear Parents,

I cannot believe that we now only have one week left of this academic year. The year was celebrated perfectly on Monday evening with our Open Evening. It was great to see how proud the children were to share their learning in the classrooms. It is such a great opportunity for children and parents to look in new classrooms and chat to staff. There was a lovely atmosphere in the hall; the year 6 children in the French Café did a fantastic job of welcoming, serving and clearing. I would like to express my thanks to parents who made cakes and to Jill and Geoff Anders and Ann Brewster who organised the café and ran it with the children; we couldn’t have done it without them. The money raised in the café will be used to buy some French sacks full of resources.

During the day on Monday we had our governor training day. A Wokingham School Improvement Officer joined us for the morning; this provided valuable reflection time and discussion about how governors can find and use new ways to demonstrate impact. We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated, hardworking governors who have such a broad skill set to bring to our school. They visited classrooms in the afternoon and stayed for a governor meeting and then the Open Evening. Thank you to all of them for their time and commitment.

As a thank you to the children FOFSA have organised a Danceathon on Thursday.  There is no contribution required; we hope the children enjoy it.

It has been a busy week in school; the year 6 children received their SATs results and I hope that they are proud of their achievements; they are working hard towards their Leavers show. There has been lots of DT projects and seeing the Goldfinch and Bullfinch models has been wonderful. Chaffinch will begin their money container project next week. It has been great to have such lovely feedback about how welcoming our children were to our new starters and we look forward to welcoming our new Reception children properly in September.

Next week we will be celebrating our Year 6 children and this academic year in our Leavers Church Service, our Leavers Show and the End of Year Assembly. Please may I remind you that on Friday we wish to have a picnic lunch; school dinners are still available to order but we think a picnic packed lunch would be a lovely way to finish the year.

    kind regards

    Dear Parents,

This week has been a wonderful celebration of school sport. Mr O'Reilly organised and led a World Cup, a sports afternoon and then Sports day. The children have loved it and being able to stand back and watch our Sports Leaders and Sports Captains leading has been wonderful. They have been organised, encouraging and clear in their explanations.

I would like to acknowledge the enormous support shown by parents, governors, FOFSA, staff and the park staff in the preparation for and the running of Sports Day. It is a fantastic occasion and I was determined not to cancel due to good weather! With all the support, the children have experienced another great afternoon of sport; well done to the Blue team for winning, Jess and Sam looked so proud holding up the trophy.  The Sports Leaders were yet again so helpful and responsible and helped to make the afternoon such a success.

It was such a pleasure to welcome next year's Reception children for their first visit. They settled so well but I am unsure who was more excited, them or their buddy.

The reports were given out yesterday and I hope you and your children are proud of them. Staff have worked incredibly hard and we would be very grateful to receive your comments on the enclosed form.

Next week is another busy week. We are looking forward to a Governor day on Monday. The Governors will be receiving some training from Wokingham during the morning; they will then be with the children over lunch and in the afternoon.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Open Evening. Mrs Anders, along with other parents, will be leading the French Cafe in the hall. You will be able to look at classrooms and your child's books. Please join us between 5pm and 6.30pm.  We are hoping to be able to sell the Christmas Play DVD on Monday evening; the DVD costs £5; all profit will go to school.  We are incredibly grateful to Pulse 8 for providing us with the opportunity to make and sell a Christmas Play DVD.

I wish you a wonderful weekend and England a win on Saturday.

    Kind regards

    Jacquie Vanstone
