Office Updates 26th June 2020

This half term our value is ‘Compassion’

‘For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.’

Updates:

Caterlink lunches: Please see the Caterlink lunch menu tab (Information/ lunch menus) for the Summer picnic pack menu and Week 1 order form. As usual, please order on your child's first day in school each week. Please send orders via finchparents@. KS1 Infants are still eligible for the UIFSM scheme and KS2 Junior children can order and payment will be collected when our ParentMail cashless payment scheme goes live. Meals are expected to be £2.08 to include a transaction fee ongoing.

Parent Mail:

We are asking for your support in setting up our new Parent Mail system. The aim is that we will be able to offer a lunch ordering system and payment system for lunches, uniform & future school trips. Initially, we are asking for you to confirm that you are happy for us to allow Parent Mail to access details from the SIMS Pupil database that we use. In order to set our system live, we are asking that you allow us to let Parent Mail import the following details from SIMS: Pupil name, Year group, Registration group, Date of birth & Gender, along with details for Parental responsibility including your Name, Relationship & Title, Primary Email address,  Mobile Number & Home address. This is so that Parent Mail can make contact with you via email to invite you to set up an account linked to our school for the reasons above. You will be able to down load a mobile app, which will allow you to check your balances and make changes easily. Please can you email confirmation to finchparents@ with permission for us to allow ParentMail to access the information listed. Thank you to those families who have already replied and please confirm by Monday 29th June so I can forward your details to ParentMail to be added to their system for personal account notifications.

Year 6 Bikeability:

We have arranged for Avanti to visit school from Tuesday 7th- Thursday 9th July from 9am- 3.15pm. All pupils will need to bring their bikes and helmets in on Tuesday for level 1. Pupils will be divided in to 2 groups- 9 on Wed 8th & 6 on Thursday 9th. Mrs Wirth will be in contact with further details and confirm the days bikes will need to be brought in. To confirm that we can not store bikes overnight so please arrange to deliver & collect your child's bike each day it is needed. Thank you.

School Nursing Team- Health forms have been sent home via pupil mail & Royal Mail for Reception children. Please complete & return the forms to the School office in the envelopes provided and they will remain confidential & be passed on to the School Nursing team, who were due to visit at the beginning of term. With front line workers beginning to return to their usual roles, the Nursing team wish to catch up with the Reception families to see if anyone has any concerns rather than let more time elapse before visits can resume. Please return the forms by Tuesday 30th June so I can arrange for the Nursing team to collect them. Thank you

Year 6 Bikeability:

We have arranged for Avanti to visit school from Tuesday 7th- Thursday 9th July. When we receive confirmation of the numbers of trainers in each day we will then be able to confirm who will be in which groups and on what day. I believe that the training will run for 1 day for each child. We will try to avoid encroaching on the Year 6 days in school as much as possible.

School Nursing Team- Health forms were sent home last week via pupil mail & Royal Mail for Reception children. Our prayer for this week:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for all you do for me. Thank you for your provisions in my life. You have given me so much that in some ways I feel spoiled by you. I feel comforted and well cared for by you. I cannot imagine my life in any other way. You have blessed me beyond what I could have imagined, in spite of me not deserving all these blessings. I thank you for that.Sometimes I feel like I take my privilege for granted, and I know that I need to do more for those that don't have what I have in my life. I know there are those that don't have a roof over their heads. I know that there are those seeking out jobs and live in fear of losing everything. There are poor and disabled. There are lonely people and desperate people that are all in need of my compassion. Yet sometimes I forget about them. Lord, I come before you today to ask you for a reminder that I cannot just dismiss the poor and downtrodden of the world. You ask us to care for our fellow man. You ask that we care for widows and orphans. You tell us throughout Your Word about compassion so please help me to remember that in my daily life. Amen.

Our prayer during Coronavirus:

Dear Lord,

We pray for all victims of the coronavirus, their loved ones,

all medical workers and first responders tasked with treatment and care of those who are and have been ill.

You who are Comfort, be with all those who are ill, afraid, or in isolation.

In their loneliness, be their consolation. In their anxiety, be their hope. In their darkness, be their light.

Fill our hearts with Compassion that we might care for ourselves and for others in ways that bring goodness and connection in the midst of distance. Grant your wisdom and grace in each moment.

Amen.

Updates: We are looking forward to welcoming back our children from keyworker families and the children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 after what would have been our half-term break.

Please see below the menu options for our return from Caterlink. There will be a 2 week rolling menu option. As usual, please send in all orders for the week on your child's first day at school. The UIFSM offering for infants is still in place for our Reception & Year 1 children. Ongoing, we have been researching online payment systems and thanks to the support of our Governors, Mr Thomas is liaising with 'Parent Mail' to get the system set up and running. We do not yet have a go live date so we will keep you informed as we expect it to be before the end of June. This serves many purposes in bringing our technology up to date, introducing a flexible payment system for parents for lunches and trips. It also reduces the risk of infection spread as it is recognised that cash can be an infection risk.

Ongoing for Year 6 children, please do not send cash in with any orders. We will update you as to when the new system is live and ask that you make payments online to cover any meals up to that point and for the following weeks.

We think this is a great advantage for school and yourselves and are looking forward to having it up and running. If anyone has concerns about the new system, please ring in or email so we can discuss this with you. As Mrs Vanstone has said, I will be back in school from Monday. I will also add an order form for next week.

Office Updates 22nd May 2020

This half term our value is ‘Compassion’

‘For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.’

We are delighted to offer you this first ever on-line School Assembly featuring The Bishop of Oxford to every school in the Diocese of Oxford. This is for individual pupils from all schools in the Diocese, but there is also a very warm invitation to pupil’s siblings, parents or other family members also to take part, to watch and to enjoy.

The Assembly will be live-streamed at 10.30am FRIDAY 22ND MAY on Facebook and YouTube – please just click on the appropriate link below. However, it can also be accessed by the Vimeo links below.

The Assembly comes in both a PRIMARY version and a SECONDARY version, so please just choose the appropriate one for your context. I have left both links in case you have various aged children who would prefer to watch appropriate content.

The theme of the assembly is COURAGE, which Bishop Steven picks up on in his talk, and the assembly starts with a time of stilling and CONTEMPLATION; both of these themes tie in with the vision of the Church of England in Oxford Diocese to be more Contemplative, Compassionate and Courageous.

The Stilling involves active participation where possible, and pupils should be encouraged to sit somewhere comfortably but upright and to follow the Bishop’s lead as he guides us through a short time of meditation and contemplation.

The Bishop of Oxford develops the theme of Courage by exploring the powerful bible text of David and Goliath, and he will be considering some of the challenges that we all face during Lockdown, as well as considering some of the strategies that Christians have found helpful, over 1000s of years. The Bishop also shows off his impressive Lockdown Lego Challenge to build a model of his house.

The short Assembly ends with a song - a version of the famous Psalm 23 The Lord’s my Shepherd – which has been produced by a school worship band from Waddesdon School. We encourage pupils to sing along with this at home if they would like to.

There is also an invitation at the end of Bishop Steven’s talk to create something that represents courage, something that helps you to be strong, and have a big heart.

If you would like to take a photo of that and send it to the Diocese, then we will try to make these into some sort of slideshow or collage for all our schools to see. Please just send entries to this dropbox link :

Our prayer for this week:

Dear Lord,

Help us to find strength, through you, to carry us through these unusual times.

Help us to remember others, less fortunate than ourselves in a kindly, compassionate way; through thought, words and actions.

We may think that others don't do or help as much as we think they should but help us to remember that our loads and burdens are all different.

We may be stronger in mind and body to carry our load more easily;

please help us to remember that others may be carrying their burdens in broken and damaged bodies and spirits, held together with glue.

Dear Lord, we ask you to help us to find our compassionate and loving sides instead of our judgemental sides.

We ask this in Jesus Name,

Amen.

Dear Lord Jesus,

I don’t want to disobey but sometimes I do and I know that it makes them mad - and then they might be cross with me and I might be cross back at them.

Prayer for a Friend

O Lord, Please bless our friendship.

Yet it is not so soft that it goes unnoticed.

Our friendship is growing in your grace.

Please bless our friendship, and keep it holy.

Friendship is a gift from you, O Lord,
and we thank you.

May our friendship always
produce the fruits of the spirit. And may the
soft rain of our friendship nourish the heart
forever.

Amen!

Our prayer for this week:

Dear Father,
Where does hope come from?
When I can not face the day.
Could hope fill each new morning
Pushing out the grey?
Do the family and friends I have
Fill up my heart with joy?
And the miracle of life itself
Speak through each new girl and boy?

Amen

Our prayer for this week:

A Prayer for Hope

Heavenly father, I am your humble servant,
I come before you today in need of hope.
There are times when I feel helpless,
There are times when I feel weak.
I pray for hope.
I need hope for a better future.
I need hope for a better life.
I need hope for love and kindness.

Some say that the sky is at it’s
darkest just before the light.
I pray that this is true, for all seems dark.
I need your light, Lord, in every way.

I pray to be filled with your light from
head to toe. To bask in your glory.
To know that all is right in the world,
as you have planned, and as you want
it to be.

Help me to walk in your light, and live
my life in faith and glory.

In your name I pray, Amen.

Our prayer for this week is:

Prayer Of Thankfulness For Our Daily Needs

Dear Father God,

I come before You with a grateful heart for the many blessings that You bestow on us day by day,

and praise You that Your mercies are new every morning and You have provided for all our needs;

and more besides. You are a great and generous God.

You are so good to all Your creation and have faithfully supplied all our needs, according to Your riches and grace – just as You have promised.

I love that hymn where it says, “count your blessings, see what God has done,” and Father I do count the many blessings that come from You day by day. Please forgive me for the times when I taken for granted the many gifts and graces that come from You – I could not draw another breath unless You give me the strength and yet moment by moment I am being kept in Your love and sustained by Your grace. Praise Your glorious name, for ever and ever.

Amen

Thank you, Lord, for keeping me safe. You protect me from those things that seem to haunt others. You help me make better choices and provide me with advisors to help me with life’s difficult decisions. You speak to me in so many ways so that I always know you are here.

And Lord, I am so thankful for keeping those around me safe and loved. I hope that you provide me with the ability and sense to show them every day how much they matter. I hope that you give me the ability to give to them the same kindness they have provided to me.

I am extremely grateful for all of your blessings in my life, Lord. I pray that you remind me of just how blessed I am and that you never allow me to forget to show my gratitude.

Thank you, Lord. In your name we pray, Amen.
