Free parkrun for children starts at Dinton Pastures
A junior parkrun is now taking place at Dinton Pastures every Sunday and it is free to take part.
The 2km run is for children aged four to 14 and starts at 9am. The course follows the path from Black Swan Lake and Emm Brook and there are marshals along the way to monitor safety.
The parkrun is organised by volunteers and although your time is recorded, it is not a race. All you need to do is register your child once before their first run.
Parents are not required to take part alongside their child, but if you are interested there is a weekly parkrun for adults every Saturday at 9am. This is also free and simply requires you to register in advance.

This half term our value is ‘Friendship’
‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you’
John 15 v12
Almighty Father,
I give thanks today for the friendships in my life.
Lord, this life isn't meant to be lived alone,
so I am grateful for the people who walk alongside me,
supporting me, loving me, and encouraging me.
For we cannot do it all alone but are better together.
Amen
TVP have messaged in asking if we would share the following:

We have original artefacts relating to the Great Train Robbery (1963), Amelia DYER (1896) & the Denham Murders (1870). We also have a large collection of police uniform & equipment on display.
The Museum is open for non-appointment visitors on the below date:

Uniform orders- please order through FOFSA. The order form is available from the school website under Office/ Forms general/ Uniform order form
The form includes the uniform@ email address, where you can send any orders to FOFSA and also the FOFSA bank account details for payment. When FOFSA receive confirmation of payment, the team usually issue any orders on a Thursday each week. Thank you.
As a reminder: the deadline for Primary School applications to be with WBC is 15th January 2023.
As a reminder: Please order school lunches on Parent Mail. The ordering system closes the day before but I can cancel orders when pupils are off sick or add orders as plans change if you let me know in the morning. We have had a few near misses this week, where no order was placed on PM & no order was made in class. Luckily, Caterlink have been able to help us and we sometimes have a spare meal, which might not be a preferred choice and when there are multiple extras on a day, we can't always help. Lunch ordering can be done up to 6 weeks out. The current menu is available until February. When I receive the new Spring/ Summer menu, I will add that to PM accordingly.
There is likely to be an amendment for Census day in January & I am waiting for confirmation. I will post it in PM when any changes are confirmed.
The value for this half-term is 'Thankfulness'
Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life.
You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined.
You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me.
You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions.
Amen
Please see the school lunch tab for the menu for the Autumn term.
For this week, please order lunches via the classroom teachers, whilst Parent Mail is updated.
From 1st August, meal prices are now £2.33. Pupils in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 are entitled to 'free' meals under the Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme (UIFSM).
If you think you are entitled to a benefits related free meal, please speak with Mrs Lawrence in the School Office, to validate checks as this also earns us a small amount extra in our school budgets. Many thanks.
Milk servings are free for all pupils under 5, should you wish your child to continue to receive milk in school, please register on the Cool Milk website, details can be obtained in the lobby.
Please note that for pupils over 5, the milk prices are increasing from 1st August, so any milk ordered for over 5's will increase from 25p to 28p per day. Under 5's will remain free to those pupils.

Our prayer for this week:
A Prayer for Hope
Lord, help me to hear you saying, "I am your hope" over all the other voices.
Lord, your word says, you are the hope for the hopeless so I'm running to you with both hands stretched out and grabbing on to you.
Fill me up with hope and give me a tangible reminder today that hope is an unbreakable spiritual lifeline (Hebrews 6:19-20).
God, you know those things in my heart that I barely dare to hope for, today I give them to you,
I trust them to you, and ask that you, because I know that you can do more than I could ever guess, imagine or request in wildest dreams (Eph 3:20).
God, you are my hope and I trust you. Amen.

Our prayer for this week:
Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless and praise Your holy name, for You sent Your only begotten Son to die on the cross to pay the price for my sins and to endure so much suffering and humiliation, on my account.
Thank You, that in Your love and mercy, the Lord Jesus took all the punishment for my sin and was subjected to no end of humiliation and reproach for love of those He came to save, and Lord that includes me. How I praise and thank You for this greatest of all miracles of Your grace. What a joy to know that in dying on the cross, He broke the power of sin and Satan, death and hell, and is seated on the right hand of the Father in heaven, awaiting that time when He will accomplish His earthly mission and return to set up His kingdom on earth,
Praise God for Jesus, and thank You that He is my Saviour and God. In His name I pray, Amen.

Our prayer for this week:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for all you do for me. Thank you for your provisions in my life. You have given me so much that in some ways I feel spoiled by you. I feel comforted and well cared for by you. I cannot imagine my life in any other way. You have blessed me beyond what I could have imagined, in spite of me not deserving all these blessings. I thank you for that.Sometimes I feel like I take my privilege for granted, and I know that I need to do more for those that don't have what I have in my life. I know there are those that don't have a roof over their heads. I know that there are those seeking out jobs and live in fear of losing everything. There are poor and disabled. There are lonely people and desperate people that are all in need of my compassion. Yet sometimes I forget about them. Lord, I come before you today to ask you for a reminder that I cannot just dismiss the poor and downtrodden of the world. You ask us to care for our fellow man. You ask that we care for widows and orphans. You tell us throughout Your Word about compassion so please help me to remember that in my daily life. Amen.

Updates: We are looking forward to welcoming back our children from keyworker families and the children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 after what would have been our half-term break.
Please see below the menu options for our return from Caterlink. There will be a 2 week rolling menu option. As usual, please send in all orders for the week on your child's first day at school. The UIFSM offering for infants is still in place for our Reception & Year 1 children. Ongoing, we have been researching online payment systems and thanks to the support of our Governors, Mr Thomas is liaising with 'Parent Mail' to get the system set up and running. We do not yet have a go live date so we will keep you informed as we expect it to be before the end of June. This serves many purposes in bringing our technology up to date, introducing a flexible payment system for parents for lunches and trips. It also reduces the risk of infection spread as it is recognised that cash can be an infection risk.
Ongoing for Year 6 children, please do not send cash in with any orders. We will update you as to when the new system is live and ask that you make payments online to cover any meals up to that point and for the following weeks.
We think this is a great advantage for school and yourselves and are looking forward to having it up and running. If anyone has concerns about the new system, please ring in or email so we can discuss this with you. As Mrs Vanstone has said, I will be back in school from Monday. I will also add an order form for next week.

The Assembly will be live-streamed at 10.30am FRIDAY 22ND MAY on Facebook and YouTube – please just click on the appropriate link below. However, it can also be accessed by the Vimeo links below.
The Assembly comes in both a PRIMARY version and a SECONDARY version, so please just choose the appropriate one for your context. I have left both links in case you have various aged children who would prefer to watch appropriate content.
- Primary - https://vimeo.com/420854893/bad5d893a1
- Secondary - https://vimeo.com/420947252/faa3d61b5b
The theme of the assembly is COURAGE, which Bishop Steven picks up on in his talk, and the assembly starts with a time of stilling and CONTEMPLATION; both of these themes tie in with the vision of the Church of England in Oxford Diocese to be more Contemplative, Compassionate and Courageous.
The Stilling involves active participation where possible, and pupils should be encouraged to sit somewhere comfortably but upright and to follow the Bishop’s lead as he guides us through a short time of meditation and contemplation.
The Bishop of Oxford develops the theme of Courage by exploring the powerful bible text of David and Goliath, and he will be considering some of the challenges that we all face during Lockdown, as well as considering some of the strategies that Christians have found helpful, over 1000s of years. The Bishop also shows off his impressive Lockdown Lego Challenge to build a model of his house.
The short Assembly ends with a song - a version of the famous Psalm 23 The Lord’s my Shepherd – which has been produced by a school worship band from Waddesdon School. We encourage pupils to sing along with this at home if they would like to.
There is also an invitation at the end of Bishop Steven’s talk to create something that represents courage, something that helps you to be strong, and have a big heart.
If you would like to take a photo of that and send it to the Diocese, then we will try to make these into some sort of slideshow or collage for all our schools to see. Please just send entries to this dropbox link :
Our prayer for this week:
Dear Lord,
Help us to find strength, through you, to carry us through these unusual times.
Help us to remember others, less fortunate than ourselves in a kindly, compassionate way; through thought, words and actions.
We may think that others don't do or help as much as we think they should but help us to remember that our loads and burdens are all different.
We may be stronger in mind and body to carry our load more easily;
please help us to remember that others may be carrying their burdens in broken and damaged bodies and spirits, held together with glue.
Dear Lord, we ask you to help us to find our compassionate and loving sides instead of our judgemental sides.
We ask this in Jesus Name,
Amen.

A Child’s Prayer for Forgiveness
Dear Lord Jesus,
I am sorry that I have not listened to my parents and teachers.
I know I should listen to them but sometimes I don’t want to and then I get into trouble.
I don’t want to disobey but sometimes I do and I know that it makes them mad - and then they might be cross with me and I might be cross back at them.
Amen

Our prayer for this week:
Thank you Lord for the wonderful connection we share as friends.
I am so grateful for the incredible bond that has grown between us,
And for the sanctuary your grace provides for us to dwell within.
I ask for a deep blessing to be given to these wonderful people.
May you provide such goodness in their lives.
I pray that the hopes and dreams they have shared with me
May be blessed by your Spirit.
Lord, you are the foundation of our friendship
For it is with you that we walk daily.
Thank you that in your kinship and family we find unity and strength.
Amen.

Prayer for a Friend
O Lord, Please bless our friendship.
Our friendship is like a long steady soft rain;
It’s not so harsh that it will destroy,
Yet it is not so soft that it goes unnoticed.
Our friendship is growing in your grace.
Please bless our friendship, and keep it holy.
Friendship is a gift from you, O Lord,
and we thank you.
May our friendship always
produce the fruits of the spirit. And may the
soft rain of our friendship nourish the heart
forever.
Amen!

Our prayer for this week:
A Prayer for Hope
Heavenly father, I am your humble servant,
I come before you today in need of hope.
There are times when I feel helpless,
There are times when I feel weak.
I pray for hope.
I need hope for a better future.
I need hope for a better life.
I need hope for love and kindness.
Some say that the sky is at it’s
darkest just before the light.
I pray that this is true, for all seems dark.
I need your light, Lord, in every way.
I pray to be filled with your light from
head to toe. To bask in your glory.
To know that all is right in the world,
as you have planned, and as you want
it to be.
Help me to walk in your light, and live
my life in faith and glory.
In your name I pray, Amen.

Prayer Of Thankfulness For Our Daily Needs
Dear Father God,
I come before You with a grateful heart for the many blessings that You bestow on us day by day,
and praise You that Your mercies are new every morning and You have provided for all our needs;
and more besides. You are a great and generous God.
You are so good to all Your creation and have faithfully supplied all our needs, according to Your riches and grace – just as You have promised.
I love that hymn where it says, “count your blessings, see what God has done,” and Father I do count the many blessings that come from You day by day. Please forgive me for the times when I taken for granted the many gifts and graces that come from You – I could not draw another breath unless You give me the strength and yet moment by moment I am being kept in Your love and sustained by Your grace. Praise Your glorious name, for ever and ever.
Amen

Our Prayer for this week is:
Thank you, Lord, for keeping me safe. You protect me from those things that seem to haunt others. You help me make better choices and provide me with advisors to help me with life’s difficult decisions. You speak to me in so many ways so that I always know you are here.
And Lord, I am so thankful for keeping those around me safe and loved. I hope that you provide me with the ability and sense to show them every day how much they matter. I hope that you give me the ability to give to them the same kindness they have provided to me.
I am extremely grateful for all of your blessings in my life, Lord. I pray that you remind me of just how blessed I am and that you never allow me to forget to show my gratitude.
Thank you, Lord. In your name we pray, Amen.
