    Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had a great week and we finished it with a fun mufti day and a lot of football.

On Tuesday this week we had a Health and Safety inspection from Wokingham which went very well.  Our Health and Safety governor, Nigel Kennington joined us for the inspection which was valuable as our governors carry out their own inspections each term.

On Thursday I spent the day showing prospective parents for Reception 2022 around the school.  This was the most Covid safe way but it was a shame not to involve the children in the tours.  I felt so proud of our school and what we are achieving and many families commented on how polite our pupils are.

In the summer we surveyed parents asking if they wished to buy a school fleece for their child and the families who responded have had the opportunity to purchase their fleece.  I am now able to open this up to all parents.  NSsport sponsored these fleeces and we are able to offer each child one fleece at the cost of £10.  If you wish to buy a school fleece, please send in an envelope with your child's name, the size required and include the £10.  We do have limited stock and we will reorder once we have sold out of the fleeces we currently have.  Sizes available are; 3-4, 4-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 years.  It is lovely to see the children in the fleeces and the weather is definitely changing.

The buzz of Christmas is beginning and the children are busy rehearsing songs and words for their short class plays.  We are still hoping parents may be able to watch the children in school, a class at a time but we are playing close attention to the local picture in regards to Covid.  Fofsa are working incredibly hard to make Christmas special in school as well as within our community and I thank you for all the support you give them, it all looks wonderful.

On the coldest day of the week the boys played in a Madejski tournament. They lost one match, won one and drew the others which took them to the semi-final which they lost to St Pauls.  They played incredibly well as a team.  Well done to them for their super behaviour and hard work, a great achievement.

This evening the girls played against Robert Piggott.  I thought they could have won and again played very well.  The score ended 4-2 with some great teamwork. Well done girls.

Finally next week as a school we will be having an Advocacy week, the start of something new for our school and a wonderful opportunity for the children to show their passion, imagination and creativity to develop and demonstrate their commitment to caring for our world.  I can't wait to see the learning that takes place and we are looking forward to sharing it with you and inspiring those around us.

I wish you a wonderful weekend especially Mrs Lawrence whose daughter is getting married after two previous dates being cancelled due to Covid.

    With kind regards

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Every week seems to be as busy as the last but we have had a great week.

The learning that has centered around Remembrance day has been powerful and the children have shown great respect and care.  Yesterday we added 3 poppy sculptures to our Ingwe garden.  This was a special moment and the children behaved beautifully.  We plan to develop the garden further with sculptures and signs to develop the space into a reflective, calm and nurturing one.

The children loved their non uniform day today and we thank you for the contributions you have made.  Plans are coming together as we head towards Christmas and next week I will share further information with you.

Today Wokingham have issued advice to headteachers regarding Covid and staying as safe as possible; rates are predicted to steadily rise.  I will share updated plans for our school next week regarding any extra measures we will be implementing.  I would however like to ask parents to wear face masks again at school drop off and collection.

I would like to finish by thanking parents for their support.  We have so many prospective parents contacting the school regarding Reception 2022 places and I thank so many of you for the positive feedback you are giving.  Whilst it is great for the school and prospective parents to see, it means a great deal to the staff and me.

I wish you a safe and good weekend.

    With kind regards

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

It feels like half term was a long time ago but it really wasn't and I hope the children all enjoyed the rest.  It certainly felt well timed for us in regards to Covid and I am pleased that we have had no further cases.

It was great to see so many children enjoying NSsport Inset day activities on Monday. As a staff we had a great day focusing on our evaluation against the church inspection criteria.  It was wonderful to celebrate what we are doing and exciting to see how we plan to progress further.

We started the half term with a run on the field as a whole school.  It was a lovely treat which reminds us of how fortunate we are.

I have had the pleasure of spending the week in Rosefinch whilst Mrs Guillaume has sadly been unwell (with a negative PCR).  The children have worked so hard and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing their learning, especially our text mapping today in English.

Today we said goodbye to Mrs Farrell after 7 wonderful years of having her as part of our team.  Mrs Farrell is such a kind, loving and positive member of staff and we will miss her.  I know Chaffinch gave her a great send off and we wish her all the best in her new role in a local secondary school.

Next week  Mrs Street will be joining our lunchtime team and I am sure the children will make her very welcome.

Today finished with a great football match for the girls.  They lost 1-0 against The Colleton and played really well.  The girls showed great determination, teamwork and kindness and I was very proud of how hard they worked.  Well done girls and thank you Mr O'Reilly.

I wish you all a safe weekend in regards to fireworks and Covid.

    With kind regards
