    Dear Parents,

What a fantastic week we have had; a great way to end the year.  On Monday we had our Year 6 Leavers show which was a lovely showcase of their talents.  It was a pleasure to welcome our governors into school on Tuesday for a meeting, training and time for them to spend in the classrooms.  The governors enjoyed spending time on the playground at lunchtime and some ate a cooked lunch with the children.  Part of the governor meeting was spent reflecting on the school results this year and I wish to take this opportunity to share them.

Early Years Good Level of Development 80% of Reception children achieved this.

    Year 1 Phonics check - 94% passed.

Year 2 SATS - Reading - 82%, Writing 76%, Maths 94% achieved the expected standard or above.

Year 6 SATS - Reading 88%, Writing 94%, Spelling, punctuation and grammar - 94% and Maths 88% achieved the expected standard or above.

Our Governor newsletter will be published early next term with more information regarding the data and our School Development Plan.

There is so much information available regarding how much children's learning can go backwards over the summer holiday.  We have made a Holiday Passport and we would be delighted if the children would complete it to ensure continued progress.  The Holiday Passport can be found on our website under Welcome and then in Parent information - how to support your child.  Your child's teacher will look forward to seeing them in September. I will leave some in the lobby at school if you wish to collect a paper copy on Monday or Tuesday.

I would like to thank Mrs Dodds for her hard work pulling together the Variety show; it was wonderful to see the children perform with such confidence right from the age of 4 to the age of 11.  Well done to everyone who took part.

On Thursday we had our church service which reflected on the foundations we have provided for our Year 6 children; our values being key to this.  Saying goodbye to our Year 6 was sad today but it was wonderful to be joined by so many parents at our end of term assembly.  I wish all our Year 6 children and other children who are now moving on great happiness and success.

Thank you for your continued support of the school and I look forward to you seeing all the changes that are due to take place this summer when we return in September.  There is still space on the NSsport Inset days for Monday and Tuesday. If you wish to book, please do so online.

I wish you and all the children a happy and safe holiday.

    Dear Parents,

What a great week we have had.  There has been so much enrichment going on in school.  The playground is filled with children preparing for the Variety show (parents are welcome between 2-3pm on Wednesday to watch; we are yet to know if we need to allow longer!)

There has been sandwich making in Chaffinch, ending with a picnic on Thursday with some very creative sandwiches!! Goldfinch have following their fairtrade recipes and the food smelt delicious.

Year 1 and 2 children are excited about their trip on Monday to Blue Reef Aquarium which I am sure will be a fantastic end to their learning on the seaside.

We had many parents join us for our Open Evening; the Year 6 children enjoyed their roles in the cafe.  Thank you to Mrs Anders, Mrs Brewster and Mrs Bardsley.  I hope you enjoyed seeing the progress in your children's books.

On Tuesday we received the SATs results for Key stage two and all children now know how they have performed in the tests.  We are very proud of them  and thank the parents for their support throughout the year.

The week finished with soaking wet staff after our 'Soak the Teacher' fundraising.  Needless to say the children loved it and we were soaked! Thank you for the incredible support, we have raised an amazing £325!!  Thank you to FOFSA for organising ice creams for afterwards.  All the money raised will go towards Maths books for September.

I wish you a lovely weekend; next week will be busy with many leaving and end of year events; I look forward to seeing you throughout the week. On Tuesday we will be joined by our governors for the day.

    Kind regards

    Dear Parents,

My news update this week is simply a thank you.

We have sent home the End of Year reports this week; we hope you are pleased with the information provided.  Reading each report was a pleasure; they are a wonderful way to celebrate each child.  Staff have worked incredibly hard and we would be grateful if you would complete the reply slip over the next week.

Sports day today has been wonderful.  Mr O'Reilly has done an incredible job of organising it.  The children took part in more races and parents were able to see the children in field events as well as track events.  Thank you to Nathalie's family for buying the ice pops for the school;  a lovely treat and refreshing in the heat.  We had so much help with gazebos, giving the finishing places and scoring, thank you all.  Mr Selkald generously lent us his sound system so that we had some music as well as the announcements.  Tim De Meyer is a natural on the microphone and his commentary was enjoyed by everyone, thank you Tim. Thank you to FOFSA for providing water for the spectators and the fantastic hamper.  Finally thank you to the children and staff.  It is always wonderful to see them trying their best and enjoying sport and this afternoon was a real celebration of that.

We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at the Open Evening on Monday

5-630pm.  The children are excited about the French Cafe so we hope you will come into the hall for a cup of tea and cake and support the children.  We have the Christmas DVD available to buy for £5 at the Open Evening; thank you the team at Nirvana Spa who have produced it for us; all proceeds go to the school.  I will have  them out later next week before and after school to purchase as well.

Thank you for your continued support at this busy time of year.  We would be grateful if you would complete our parent survey over the next week using this link.
