7th June 2024

Good afternoon,

We were straight back in this week with cricket tournaments, class photos and we finished with a visit from the fire service today for Goldfinch.  It has been lovely to celebrate some fantastic art and writing over the last couple of days.

I hope you all had a good half term. It was great to see so many children enjoying holiday club as well as the Inset day cover from NSsport.

During the holiday, I met with Mr Barley from Nirvana Spa to follow up a very exciting offer.  Following an application I made in the Autumn term to the Oxford Diocese, we were informed about a month ago that we had been allocated funding for a project to redesign and renovate our library and computer suite.  This will enable us to have a corridor into Rosefinch and a library/technology area as a modern, purpose-built classroom for ipads and laptops.  This was very exciting but we were struggling to find a contractor to complete the work over the summer.  Mr Barley is a wonderful ambassador for our school and has offered to complete the work for us at no cost to the school!  This support is incredible and this week, the news got even better.  Our funding from the Diocese can be used for another suitable project and it has been approved for us to use the funding to redevelop our Rosefinch play shed!

I will keep you updated as the work and plans progress!

I want to congratulate the girls who attended the cricket tournament on Tuesday.  Mr O'Reilly felt very proud of each of them for their behaviour, performance and progress.  Many other schools commented on how well they played especially with their batting.

It has been lovely to see the children in non-uniform today and we are very grateful for the donations made.  I know FOFSA are still looking for support on the day of the fair (Saturday 15th June) so please be in touch if you can help in anyway, for any length of time.

I thought it would be helpful to share these details ahead of next week as a reminder:

The traffic this week has been very problematic for many of us but hopefully some of the roadworks will come to an end/improve soon.  Thank you for leaving in plenty of time so the children arrive on time for their learning to begin.

A couple of children have come into school on PE days in black shorts.  Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct PE shorts with either their Sports day t-shirt or their school PE kit.

Mrs Wirth has had her last day in school ahead of her operation next week. I wanted to finish by wishing her well and a speedy recovery, we will all miss her.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
