28th June 2024

Good afternoon,

We have had a great week in school, making the most of outdoor learning in the sunshine.  The work around transition is continuing within school and we had the pleasure of meeting our new Reception 2024 families on Monday evening.  The end of term is really flying by!

On Tuesday, our governors had a packed day of training in school.  This time together is so valuable as we lead our school forwards.  For me, a highlight, is always the lunchtime when we see our governors on the playground with the children.  There were lots of children enjoying tennis.

The teachers have been working incredibly hard to write the children's reports and I wish to thank them.  The reports will be emailed over the next two weeks and we will always make sure that everyone from the same year group has their report sent out on the same day.

Mr O'Reilly was delighted to share the news that the children who attended the athletics tournament 'Quadkids' came 4th place out of more than 20 schools and were only 1 point from 3rd place.  This is an amazing achievement.

Next week, is another busy week in school.  On Tuesday, we have an anxiety workshop at 2.15pm for parents which will be led by the school nurse.  We have several families signed up and I would encourage you to do so as it is a great opportunity.  If you would like to join online, we have a link we can share, please email senco@finchampstead.wokingham.sch.uk

On Friday, we have Sports day in the afternoon which we are all looking forward to and I hope you can join us.  For our new families, I thought I would share that we begin on the field at 1.15pm.  We will take the children over and bring them back to school afterwards and we ask parents to stay on the spectating side of the track (nearest the middle of the field).  Parents can bring picnic blankets and can enjoy supporting the children.  We will have a parent race, if you are keen!

We do rely on the support of parents for helping during the afternoon and attach the link to sign up.

We also need some gazebos. If you have one we could borrow, please let me know.

On Tuesday afternoon, we are going to have a Sports day run through as a whole school and would ask to ensure that all children come into school wearing their correct PE kit with their coloured tshirt.

We have noticed some children with left on nail varnish, hair not tied back etc. and trainers being worn with uniform rather than just on PE days.  Please make sure your child is adhering to the uniform policy and is looking smart and ready for learning.  Having said this, I would like to invite the Year 6 children to begin wearing their Leavers hoodies from Monday.

I wish you a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you lots of you next week.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
