21st May 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are well. We have had the windiest, wettest of weeks and I am amazed that we have still managed lunch and break times without a wet play.
In my newsletter last week, I shared information regarding our Amazon Wishlist which FOFSA has set up. It has been incredible to see the generosity and kindness of our families. The books are beautiful and our Year 6 Prefects will be organising them into year group sets from next week. We have reached the amazing total of 117 so just 83 to go!
As a celebration of our new books and as a way to hopefully reach the 200 books target, we will be having a non-uniform day on Friday 28th May. Please either buy a book or donate £1 on the door for your child to come in non-uniform. If you feel you have already contributed enough, please don't feel pressured, it would just be great to have all 50 books per year group for after half term and we want to treat the children to a mufti day. Thank you so much.
On Thursday, Chaffinch and Goldfinch had a lovely walk up to church. They did some music with Mrs Gan and then ate lunch. I think for a lot of children it felt like such a treat to be on a 'school trip' and I am pleased they enjoyed it. It was also an opportunity to see Rev Gemma and Mr and Mrs Fox; the children were pleased to thank them for their video assemblies and chat to them.
The Governors met (online) this week. It was an opportunity to review our data and reflect on our progress through our School Development Plan. Whilst the plan has changed a lot due to Covid, I am very proud of what we are achieving. We have also reviewed our Acceptable Use Policy and our Uniform Policy. I will email out the Acceptable Use Policy next week but I have put the Uniform Policy for September 2021 on the website as we would like to consult with you on this. Please have a look and email me with any feedback by Wednesday 26th May head@finchampstead.wokingham.sch.uk. This year has worked well with trainers and having extra fleeces etc. but I know ventilation will continue to be important going into the Autumn term and we wish to return to a smarter, uniformed approach. https://www.finchampsteadschool.org/policies/
Next Friday, we break up for half term so that day will be the last Football club for Year 6 this term. We have an Inset day on Monday 7th June, NSsport will be in school for any children who wish to join in and of course for those of you who need childcare. You can book places for the half term holiday club and the Inset day on the NSsport website.
I wish you a lovely weekend.
With kind regards
Jacquie Vanstone
