25th April 2025
Good afternoon,
I am amazed that we are suddenly at the end of April! It has been wonderful to welcome the children back and hear about their Easter break. NSsport had a successful holiday club and it was lovely to see so many of our families benefiting from the provision.
Over Easter we have had some gardening done, some maintenance and a new interactive Smartboard in School House. The maintenance and gardening have been carried out by volunteers and the Smartboard was bought with some Parish funding. All of this support is so important for our continual development and I feel proud and fortunate of what we achieve together. Togetherness has been a focus for our assemblies this week and it has been great to hear how the children know they can support each other.
Over the holiday I have updated a board in the corridor outside the conservatory which includes information for children and parents on our School Development Plan. We will continually have pupil voice as part of this space and we value your views too. The first question for the children has been - If you could have other clubs on offer at school, what would they be? I will share the outcomes of our pupil voice as well as actions we take as a result of them.
For the Summer term Mr O'Reilly will running his Friday club for the children and parents to join in together. It is so valuable to show the enjoyment that adults can have through sport and we hope you will sign up. The dates are as follows and sign up sheets will be sent home on the Monday ahead of the Friday for the correct class. If you have any questions, please ask.
Friday 2nd May – Multisports – Goldfinch

As previously advertised, we will be holding our Maths meeting for parents on Wednesday 30th April after school. There is a sign up sheet attached to the email for this news update. We would really value strong parental support. Each class will hold two meetings one at 3.30pm and one at 4pm. We would ask for non-school siblings to be kept with you whilst you attend the meeting but school children can be supervised in the hall if you wish. We look forward to sharing with you our methods and resources and we hope this will support you as you help your child. If you have any questions, please be in touch.
I wanted to reiterate to parents that at break time the children should only be eating fruit or vegetables. We have had some children expecting to eat crisps/biscuits etc. which we do not allow. We appreciate your support with this messaging to ensure your child is eating a healthy snack at breaktime. Rosefinch and Bullfinch do have fruit/vegetables provided and these are very much enjoyed by the children.
Next week, we look forward to our assembly on Tuesday to welcome Reverend Gemma to school and on Wednesday our School Improvement Partner from Wokingham will be in school working with us. We also have our first Active Movement Ambassadors - Congratulations Ronnie! The role of the AMbassador is to promote our commitment to being active in our learning and routines and the badge and role will be passed on each week within Goldfinch.
I wish you a lovely weekend. I know we have children working hard ahead of assessments with the Year 6 SATs fast approaching, Year 4 Multiplication check and the Year 1 Phonics screening. It is great to see them determined to achieve their best and thank you for your support.
The staff are beginning their weekend with a wonderful treat. Mr Barley from Nirvana Collection is treating our staff to an Afternoon tea at West Court Retreat after school today. As leaders, we work very hard to support the wellbeing of our staff. This treat is highly deserved and I know it will be thoroughly enjoyed. The impact of Mr Barley's support is mostly felt by staff and children through the learning and nurture spaces he has developed and created. To provide this amazing experience for our team to enjoy together is incredible. We began this half term with a focus on what we can achieve through togetherness. Thank you Mr Barley.
With kind regard
