Welcome to Finchampstead C of E (Aided) Primary School

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it

20th June 2025

Good afternoon,

We have finished the week in the way I would love to finish every week!  Playing tennis and eating strawberries and cream!

Thank you so much for supporting us, the children have had a wonderful afternoon with the joy and benefits of sport and fruit!  My enormous thanks go to the farm, Mrs Fox, Mr O'Reilly and to parents - we raised £330 for school.

We began this week with our Collective Worship focusing on the value of Compassion.  We reflected on the three steps required to show compassion - noticing, caring and taking action.  The children have created some wonderful pieces of art to represent compassion and we have seen so much of it in action in the classrooms and on the playground.  The was celebrated in Achievement Assembly on Tuesday led by Mrs Wirth.   The assembly included us awarding some Heart of the Community badges and some STEP badges for manners (sorry, thank you, excuse me and please).

On Wednesday, I was fortunate to join Goldfinch on their trip to Wellington College.  The children enjoyed some ice breaker games, two fantastic Science lessons and a drink and brownie in the middle.  Seeing the experience the children had along with the learning, really highlights the importance of their community links.

Another fantastic opportunity has been the Dance club provided for two weeks by Bohunt Wokingham Secondary School.  We had a group of 16 children who loved it and are looking forward to next week.  It was a lovely opportunity for the children to be inspired by older pupils, two of them past pupils.

Next week we have a slightly quieter week.

Chaffinch have their trip to West Court Retreat (for learning rather than relaxation!)  On Friday we would like to invite the children to be in non uniform for the day in exchange for a bottle towards the Finchampstead Village Fete.  The fete is the following day, 28th June 1-4pm.  We really hope many of our families will support.  The deadline for the t-shirt competition is Monday so please return any entries to school on Monday.

We have another change to PE days for Goldfinch - please can Goldfinch wear their PE kit on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.

I wish you a lovely weekend in the sunshine.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
