Good afternoon,

I can't quite believe this is my last news update of the year.  As I know the staff feel, there is no slowing down towards the end of term and we have had another great week.

Our Year 6 children have completed their Bikeability and we felt proud of them.  They worked hard, listened carefully and made great progress.  There are further holiday courses available locally and I would urge anyone who missed it or would like to progress further to explore these options.  With our roads being so busy, it is such valuable training.

I wanted to thank the many parents who were able to come and see books and classrooms during our celebration afternoon and morning.  Seeing families enjoying the French cafe was lovely and having a Fire of London Bullfinch performance was a treat for us all.  The children were so proud and sang with such commitment, a true celebration of learning.

On Wednesday, Rosefinch and Bullfinch had a fantastic day at Marwell zoo.  I think they were ready for lunch by about 9.30am and then many were fast asleep by 2.30pm!  The adult support was great which was needed for such a large group of young children.  I know the hippos and the giraffes were a highlight for many and the day was enjoyed by all.

This week, we have welcomed our new Reception children and their parents into school.  The children all settled well and we were really proud of them.  Our Year 5s were delighted to meet their buddies and we look forward to seeing them take on additional responsiblities in the coming year.

We were sad to say goodbye to Mrs Pasha today from Goldfinch. Mrs Pasha has worked incredibly hard and we have loved working with her.  I will say more next week but it was sad to say goodbye.

We did have a treat for Year 6 today with the traditional Staff V Year 6 football match.  I am delighted to say that the staff won but in reality I think I need to say Mr O'Reilly won on our behalf of us!  The children loved it and we may offer a rematch next week!

Next week we have our Leavers' service at church on Tuesday - Church drop off please.  At 2.15pm on the Tuesday we would like to invite parents to our Enterprise event.  Fofsa has donated £10 per year group and each class are working creatively to create, sell or offer people something they want to make the £10 grow for their chosen charity.

Ideas include some food items, art, bird feeders, fete style stalls and games (inspired by FOFSA) which may include temporary tattoos.   The children can bring in their own money to spend.  If there is anything you do not want your child to do, eat or buy - please let the class teacher know.

We hope that lots of parents will come at 2.15pm to see information about each charity and support the charities at the class tables - please bring some change!

This has been an exciting end of year project and is valuable in teambuilding and entrepreneurship.

On Tuesday evening ahead of the next Women's football match, we have our Leavers' show and then on Wednesday we have our End of Year Assembly at 1.15pm ahead of a 2pm finish.  We are delighted that NSsport will be offering holiday club throughout the Summer.

I will share a short end of tem message next week but wish you a lovely weekend in the meantime.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
