11th July 2025
Good afternoon,
This week has been noticably quieter than the previous but just as hot and just as positive. The smell in school has been amazing with Goldfinch and Rosefinch both cooking. The DT in Chaffinch and Bullfinch has been impressive and I have enjoyed talking to the children about their learning and seeing their final pieces of work.
Parents should all have received their child's report for the end of the year as well as attendance. The staff work incredibly hard to write the reports and my thanks go to them; they were a pleasure for me to read. Please can all reply slips be returned by the end of Monday. Staff really value your comments so thank you very much for taking the time.
Results have also been sent out this week for Phonics, Multiplication check and Year 6 SATs results. We are very proud of the children for their hard work and we thank you for your support. We have fantastic results for all the external assessments. It is important we celebrate these results as part of the wonderful learning journey our pupils benefit from, starting in Early years through to Year 6. As our SIAMS inspector said back in September 'every child should experience education like this'.
On Wednesday we had our last Achievement assembly of the year. We presented a certificate per class and three children were awarded their HOC badges. We were delighted to see the children who attended the Bohunt Dance Club perform and a video link is here for you to see. The link will also take you to a Fife club video. These children will perform in an assembly soon but I was so impressed with their progress and achievement that I wanted to share it here first. Thank you Mrs Gan. https://finchampstead-c-of-e-primary-school.primarysite.media/
We have ended the week with another transition session which the children have enjoyed.
Today we carried out a lockdown practice with the children. We have a new system in place and the children were gently introduced to the possible reasons for a lockdown such as heavy smoke outside, a dog within the grounds, a person we didn't know. We will now build this practice into our half termly schedule as we do with a fire drill.
Next week, we have many events to look forward to so I thought I would summarise them here for your information.
We look forward to welcoming you into school.
