    Good afternoon,

I have finished the week watching 9 of our Year 6 children playing football in the sunshine!  They played well and very much enjoyed pulling positions out of a hat for this friendly match.  Thank you Mr O'Reilly for organising and parents for your support.

The Year 6 SATs are now over.  I always feel proud of how the children approach them with hard work, determination and big smiles.  The breakfast in the morning, along with yoga, sets them up each day and I know the ice cream on Thursday was a welcomed treat.

It has been lovely to see so much outdoor learning this week including class assemblies, science, PE and role play.  We hope this continues.  The children are really enjoying having the tennis nets up on the playground and whilst they play confidently, many balls go over the fence!  We sadly do not always get them back.  If anyone has a pack of tennis balls to donate, we would be very grateful as we have many lessons still to teach this term!

Next week, we are looking forward to our joining Mrs Mareya on the field to walk part of her 100 miles in May to celebrate the life of Eli's dad.  We hope you can join us at 2.15pm on Wednesday on the field.  Blue accessories are encouraged!

Chaffinch have a busy week ahead with Warren lodge, swimming and a science lesson up in the church grounds.  Goldfinch will be celebrating their Iron Age learning on Friday with a day full of activities.  Rosefinch are invited to sign up for the multisports club with parents on Friday.  We will send the link out on Monday. Finally Bullfinch,  I hope Bullfinch have a normal Monday next week after arriving in school this week to find their chairs were all missing.  Thankfully their fantastic writing left over night, brought them all back on Tuesday morning. Very inspired Mrs Metcalfe!

I know the roads make journeys very difficult at the moment but our monitoring of attendance this week has shown an increase in the number of pupils marked in late.  Please allow plenty of time so the children have a smooth start to each day with learning which begins the moment they are in the classroom, we really believe that every moment counts.

I wish you a lovely weekend

    With kind regards

    Good afternoon,

I hope you are well and are enjoying the sunshine.  We have squeezed so much into a short week, it has been wonderful.

We began with Chaffinch having their first swimming lesson, I enjoyed hearing what they thought of it and it was all positive!

On Thursday, according to some of Reception "we had an Ascension adventure!" We couldn't walk the usual way to church as it was too wet but the alternative, longer route was so beautiful.  When we arrived up at church, Mr and Mrs Fox were waiting for us and led our talk along with music and singing.  I would like to thank you all for the breakfast contributions.  It was delicious and I heard one of the Goldfinch boys saying, "is it okay to have 4ths?"

I found the morning incredibly special and I think that was down to the beautiful surroundings, the children's enjoyment and most importantly the sense of community that made it happen in the way it did; I think it is quite unique.  The sunshine may have played a part too!

The school was then represented by some of Chaffinch in a cross country event at St Neots.  Mrs Martinez and Mrs Baker supported our runners. The children were hard working and determined and as a result performed well.

Mr O'Reilly accompanied some Chaffinch and Goldfinch girls at a Cantley football tournament.  They were enthusiastic and had a great morning.

Goldfinch then had their Multisports club with parents which looked great fun.  Thank you for supporting.

Over the past few weeks I have mentioned our Year 6 pupils for their resilience and determination as they prepare for their SATs.  This time next week the SATs will be over but the learning and the skills built up in preparation will be important going forwards.  The children are all working hard and are being so supportive of each other.   SATs week is usually enjoyed by the children once it arrives and we will make sure they know how proud we are of them.

The Summer fete is on Saturday 15th June 11-3pm on the field.  We are holding two mufti days to support.  We are fortunate to have such a strong FOFSA committee and I wish to thank them for all they do.  Please note the following key dates:

Friday 7th June - Mufti day, please donate smellies & chocolates

    Monday 10th June - Bags 2 Schools - 8.30-9am pick up

Friday 14th June - Mufti day, please donate a bottle

Saturday 15th June 11-3pm - Please support our Summer fete.

I wish you a wonderful weekend in the sunshine.

    With kind regards

    Good afternoon,

We have had busy week of learning and fun!

We have been pleased with all the children for working with such determination.  Our Year 6 pupils are busy preparing for their SATs.  I know they will be keen to use the long weekend for some extra revision but I hope they take time to enjoy themselves too.

We had our first run on Wednesday which was wonderful.  It is so special to have the whole school running together, encouraging each other and feeling the benefits of their effort.  We hope the weather enables us to repeat the run as often as possible but sadly that wasn't the case for Thursday and today.

We are so grateful to Mrs Metcalfe for providing us with a Maypole.  The children have embraced the opportunity to take part and have loved learning to Maypole dance.  All classes will have a go over the next few weeks.

We had 11 families attending the Chaffinch club today.  Everyone enjoyed a little healthy competition and had a great time.  Thank you Mr O'Reilly.

Chaffinch will begin their swimming sessions next week.  Please make sure they have everything they need.  These lessons are so valuable and I know Mrs Dodds enjoys watching them learn and progress over the sessions.

We would like to invite parents to join us on Thursday 9th May to celebrate Ascension Day.  We plan to walk up to church where we will have a short outdoor service and a shared school community breakfast.  Children will be registered as usual then walk to church at 8.50am.

If you or your family members would like to join us, please wait in the park and we will walk that way so families can walk together.  Sadly, dogs can't join us on this occasion.

It's been a special and joyful celebration when the children have taken part in previous years.  We are hoping this whole school event will be an equally wonderful opportunity to spend time together in the church gardens.  Please let the office know if you can help by providing a small breakfast item e.g. pack of croissants, carton of juice or some fruit.  Feel free to bring picnic rugs etc.

Next week will only be 4 days long but we have Cross Country for some children and a football tournament for others, along with Ascension Day and swimming all on top of our full curriculum! We also finish the week with Goldfinch and parents Multisports session, a link will be shared on Tuesday.

I wish you a lovely weekend
