Good afternoon,

With a shorter week and the update email I sent a few days ago, I thought I would just write a short newsletter today.

Well done to the boys who played in the Holme Grange tournament yesterday.  Mr O'Reilly was really pleased with how they played, winning and drawing many matches.

The outdoors has featured highly this week with fires in our fire pit and runs on the playground and on the field.  I feel passionately about the need to develop our outdoor learning and I hope over time you will see the gradual changes we make. We would love your feedback.

Again this week, we have led many tours and the Year 5 and 6 children have been pleased to support with this.

I am aware that the Junior Duke booklets have now been sent home.  I really hope the children have a wonderful time completing different challenges and bringing them into school to celebrate and have them signed off.  We want to use this opportunity for the children to talk to different adults within school so we will choose the most appropriate adult for the sign offs.  For example, sporting activities might be signed off by Mr O'Reilly or cleaning task by Mrs Harmsworth, our cleaner.  Thank you Mrs Wirth for organising it all.

Rosefinch were excited today to have a donation bin delivered to help them to support their class charity First Days.  Well done Rosefinch, we look forward to supporting you and I have attached two photos to my email for your information incase you wish to support.

I finish with the fantastic news that the informal crossing scheme has been approved!  Thank you so much for the time that many parents put into the feedback I asked for.  I was able to present a clear picture to the Parish Council based on school and parental experiences.  It is a great step forwards and I hope it will make a significant difference.

Wokingham Borough Council are currently consulting on reducing the speed to 20 mph from the Greyhound pub through the village.  This would also have significant impact on the safety of our community. I would be grateful if parents provide their support as feedback here https://engage.wokingham.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/putting-people-first-on-our-streets-safer-streets-programme

A final request from me would be for any possible auction items that you may be able to donate from contacts, friends or work.  FOFSA would be incredibly grateful and emails of offers can be sent to me or speak to someone on the FOFSA committee.

Next week, we have even more sporting events.  We will finish the week with Children in Need on Friday.  Children are welcome to wear Children in Need accessories if they wish.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support.

With kind regards

Jacquie Vanstone
