This week has been full of fun and learning and for me lots of tours! It has been such a pleasure to show so many families around our school. Goldfinch children who have led tours have done them confidently and with such pride. Many parents commented on how happy our children are which we know but it is lovely to hear.
We had a great number of parents with us for our assembly on Thursday. We were pleased to share songs as well as information regarding our awards, charities and the new and exciting Junior Duke. If you would like any further information about awards, please always ask. We also held an afternoon tea for MacMillan and it was lovely to have a time to chat to parents.
I would like to share a thank you to FOFSA for the wonderfully popular cookie and preloved sale. A lot of time and organisation goes into every event however small so thank you very much for supporting them.
Our Year 6 children are excited for their week at PGL Liddington next week. I know they will have a fantastic time. The week provides such a safe opportunity to build independence, resilience, teamwork and hopefully a love of adventure. In advance, I thank Mrs Wirth, Miss Thurston and Mrs Loosley as I know how brilliantly they will care for and support the children. I wish Year 6 and staff a restful weekend! Throughout the week we will share updates which I hope you will enjoy.
Thank you to the many parents who have signed up to our Phonics meeting. Mrs Crowe and I will lead the meeting and we hope it is helpful. We will also share slides for those who cannot attend. This takes place on Tuesday afternoon.
A group of Wellington College students will be back with us from this Wednesday for a homework club running up to 4pm. I will send home a Microsoft form on Monday for you to sign your child up. The first week will be a focus on supporting with homework, reading and timetables or number bonds. In subsequent weeks, there may be a focus of gardening, cooking etc. I will keep you updated as this develops but we very much look forward to welcoming them back.
I have again had concerns raised by parents and neighbours about parking. The safety of children is a priority and I will be out on the roadside as much as possible over the coming weeks to ensure that all parking is safe for everyone and respectful of our neighbours. I have also approached the council and parish for support and intervention.
Sleep well Year 6, I know you are excited for your residential, it might be a wet week ahead!
