Finchampstead CE (Aided) Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all pupils, staff, governors, volunteers, visitors and external agencies to share this commitment.

Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is written with due regard to the Department for Education statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Should you have any concerns regarding the welfare or safety of a pupil please speak to Mrs Vanstone, Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead. If Mrs Vanstone is unavailable then Mrs Wirth, Senior Teacher, Deputy Safeguarding Lead would be able to assist you.

Operation Encompass Safeguarding Statement

Finchampstead CE (Aided) Primary School is part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is an initiative which enhances communication between the police and schools where a child is at risk from domestic abuse. The purpose of the information sharing is to ensure schools have more information to support safeguarding of children. By knowing that the child has had this experience, the school is in a better position to understand and be supportive of the child's needs and possible behaviours. Operation Encompass will complement existing safeguarding procedures

Operation Encompass means that the police will share information with our  school about all police attended Domestic Abuse incidents which involve any of our children PRIOR to the start of the next school day. By knowing that the child has had this experience, the school is in a better position to be supportive and understanding of the child's needs and possible behaviours. The Head teacher or DSL will share this information on a need to know basis e.g. the class teacher. The key aim of this process, however, is to ensure that the child is offered sensitivity and understanding following a distressing incident.
