    Good afternoon,

It is hard to believe we are already at half-term, although I feel thankful for the lighter mornings as the term has progressed.

We began the week with Goldfinch on a trip to The Living Rainforest.  They had a great day and, as always, I think seeing a sloth is the highlight for many.  Such trips add so much value to the children and enhance their experiences and learning. Thank you to the staff and also to parents for support.

On Wednesday, we had a wonderful assembly led by Bullfinch.  This assembly shared knowledge and understanding of their charity, The Dogs Trust.  Well done to all of Bullfinch for delivering such a confident and passionate assembly, aided by the beautiful and well-behaved Ruby (Mrs Metcalfe's dog).

Chaffinch were delighted to welcome parents in on Thursday morning for a reading session.  The classroom had the comfort of a fireplace scene on the whiteboard, the excitement of some breakfast treats and the inspiration of so many wonderful books.

Rosefinch have loved their learning based on the book Q Pootle 5.  They were proud to show their writing and drawings based on a space party.

In additional to all of this, the learning I have seen in classrooms has been fantastic.  Highlights for me would be Rosefinch PE, Bullfinch and Chaffinch writing and Goldfinch strumming their ukuleles brilliantly in time with each other.

Mrs Gan is proud of the WASMA children who are working hard in preparation for their performance at The Hexagon.  We had many children audition for solo parts, and I am delighted to say well done to Isaac and Zachary for being selected.  It will be wonderful to see you all perform.

There are a few dates/information for the whole school that I thought I would share here:

We would like to invite the children to dress up for World Book Day on Thursday 5th March.

Red Nose Day is 20th March.  We are happy for the children to wear accessories linked to Comic Relief, but due to our class work on our charities, we will not fundraise within school.

We have Learning Review meetings taking place on 3rd March and 5th March.  After half-term, we will send out booking information.

NSsport is running over the holidays

Before we head off for a restful week, I wanted to share some wonderful news. We have been allocated funding from Finchampstead Parish to develop the top part of the playground, hopefully over Easter.  We have been allocated funding from the Oxford Diocese to refurbish all the toilets near the hall as well as the windows in School House.  The extension work at the front will begin from the outside over the Easter holidays as well.  This holiday, thanks to FOFSA, we are having a Wi-Fi upgrade which will transform the use of laptops and iPads within school. We have such fantastic support and many exciting developments to come.

I would like to thank you for your ongoing support and wish you and the children a lovely week.

    With kind regards

    Jacquie Vanstone
