    Good evening,

We have, as always, had a busy week and have achieved so much in just four days.

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of working with each of the Year 1 children ahead of their June phonics screening.  The children, parents and staff should feel proud of the progress the children are making.  We work incredibly hard to deliver the phonics with both fidelity to the scheme we use and confidence in our practice.  Year One parents should have all received two emails this week regarding phonics, so please be in touch if you haven't seen them or if you have any questions.

The children have been spoilt this week by a visit from Ruby the dog on Tuesday and ducks in the Chaffinch garden on Wednesday.  It is magical to see how inspiring the animals are and my thanks go to both Mr and Mrs Metcalfe for their support and hard work to create these special moments and learning opportunities.  The children join me in asking what will you bring next week, Mrs Metcalfe?!

School attendance data is currently showing an improving picture, and we thank you for your support with this.  Every day really does count both academically and socially.  We are increasingly concerned about the number of families who have arrived late multiple times this half-term.  Letters will be emailed next week if this applies to you and if you feel we can support in any way, please be in touch.  The school routines begin as soon as children begin to arrive, and these times help the children to settle down and show readiness for the day ahead.

I want to finish by wishing our Year 6 luck next week with their SATS.  As I said last week, they will be well-supported to show their best efforts and I know that once the week begins they will enjoy it.  I wish them a restful weekend ahead of the week and know Mrs Wirth and Ms Thurston have sent home valuable resources for some last-minute reminders.

I wish you a lovely weekend
